West Sluice Barrage House

A new Sluice House facility in Galway City

There was a requirement for a replacement structure at the OPW Drainage West Sluice Barrage House in Galway City. The resulting new Sluice House facility will maintain and house pumps and hydraulic controls for the sluice gates at the Salmon Weir Bridge in Galway City. Formed of a CLT superstructure the 90 sqm low energy building, which is built to nZEB standards, will accommodate two workstations, a small conference facility, welfare facilities and a workshop.

In addition to the design, supply and installation of the CLT and glulam superstructure, G-frame were responsible for the external insulation works on the single storey, monopitch building.
