New 24 classroom building incorporating multi-purpose hall
A new two-storey school building for St Canice’s School in County Kilkenny comprising 24 classrooms, a general purpose hall, single storey special needs unit, library and staff rooms. The project, which involved the demolition of the existing school, is being delivered in two phases to allow continued functioning of the school throughout construction. G-frame were responsible for the design, supply and installation of glulam beams measuring up to 3m deep and 17m long for the new building which is formed of a pre-cast concrete, steel and mass timber structure. Installation of the glulam beams involved complex tolerances due to the hybrid primary structure.
