Artist’s beach studio

Unique beach dwelling built using a hybrid CLT and steel frame which accommodates a single storey CLT artists live/work studio. Elevated 2.7 m above ground level using three large steel columns, the studio is located on the coastal salt marshes of St Osyth, which sits within a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The area is prone to flooding and elevation of the frame has helped to address this issue as well as minimising environmental impact and disruption to the nature reserve. G-frame were responsible for the design, supply and installation of the CLT structure. Redshank, St Osyth reached the final of the 2017 RIBA House of the Year Awards.
